Are you stuck on a recipe or don't understand a cooking term ? I think you will find Gourmet Magazine's DICTIONARY very helpful.
If you have an interest in Irish Food, there are some great web sites that offer a wide array of recipes and Irish links. Check out irishfood.com or tasteofireland.com a lot of my own questions were answered, maybe it will answer some of yours. I always wanted to try & wondered how to make black pudding, now I know I will never do either.
Irish Soda Bread Put a large ( 12" round ) iron skillet in a 350° preheated oven until dough is made.
Mix in a large bowl : 4 cups flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 cup raisins 4 tbls. caraway seeds
Mix in a small bowl : 7/8 cup sugar 2 eggs
Carefully grease pan just before dough is put in. Pour egg mixture into flour mixture and mix by hand with a large spoon until all contents have a crumbly texture. Add 1 cup of milk and mix well. (You should grease the hot pan at this time). Spread dough evenly in the pan. Bake for 1 hour at 375 or until a cake tester comes out clean. Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack. ENJOY !
